M/MARITIME Highlights Japan-Greece Maritime Ties at Thessaloniki International Fair 2026

The Japan Pavilion opened at the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), with M/MARITIME as Platinum Sponsor of the Japan Pavilion.

The opening ceremony brought together Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Japanese Ambassador to Greece Koichi Ito, Taro Kono, Chairman of the Japan-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group, and M/MARITIME founder John Mytilineos.

Ambassador Ito recognised M/MARITIME as a major partner of the Japanese shipping industry and highlighted its contribution to business, cultural and people-to-people ties between Japan and Greece.

Kono highlighted the two countries’ shared identity as maritime nations and the importance of freedom of navigation and international maritime rules.

M/MARITIME’s relationship with Japan is deeply rooted in shipbuilding. John Mytilineos spoke about his longstanding ties with Japanese shipbuilders, praising the qualities he has experienced first-hand: “hard work and consistency, education and expertise, and more than anything, honesty and reliability.”

Japan is the Honoured Country at this year’s TIF, showcasing its technology, industry and culture through the Japan Pavilion.

As Platinum Sponsor, M/MARITIME also supported elements of the Pavilion’s cultural presence, including the Japanese Zen Garden and a programme of cultural performances, helping bring aspects of Japanese tradition and culture closer to visitors of the Fair.
