M/MARITIME proudly announces the sponsorship of the International Olympic Academy two years prior to the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games of 2020 in Tokyo, Japan. The International Olympic Academy functions as a multicultural interdisciplinary centre that aims at studying, enriching and promoting Olympism across the world. For the next two years, M/MARITIME will support the transportation of the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Ideals from Greece, the country where the Olympic Games where born, to Japan, the country that Greek shipowners have traditionally entrusted for the construction of their ships. M/MARITIME endorses the Company’s respect for Greece and the country’s tradition in the maritime industry through this sponsorship in an attempt to set forth, at the occasion of Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games, that Olympism as a way of life based on respect for human dignity and fundamental universal ethical principles, on the joy of effort and participation, on the educational role of good example, a way of life based on mutual understanding, lies in the fundamentals of the international maritime industry, in leading Greek shipping companies and reputable Japanese shipbuilding companies.
